Maria

I was intending to write this a few days ago, but I was too busy to have some time to sit down and focus. Back then, I was listening to Andrea Bocelli while I was doing some house work, and that song came, one of my favourites "Ave Maria". I have always loved virgin Mary, she's so close to my heart, that even the chapter titled by her Arabic name "Mariam" is my favourite in the Quran. I wanted to name my girl after her, but, there was only one problem, I like names that end with vowels!! Listening to that song, it came to my mind, I will name you "Maria"! What an idea, where has it been for so long! I feel so excited now, and I wish I can hug you.

With all my excitement, my mother returned home after a long day, so I decided I should tell her about my decision, and then I get the worst reaction ever! Seems that we will never get together! She doesn't like the name! And what she told me was "Are you converting to Christianity too?!", "Maria" is the Hebrew similar to Mariam. Of course, she's already upset I took off my veil two weeks ago, that's because she doesn't understand my point. Well, she's not the only one. There's one thing you need to know about your mother dear, I always come up with the craziest ideas, to the rest of the world, which after a while they find out they were the wisest! A curse of mine, I have to fight the whole world all the time for that! But, I decided not even to care, because one day they will understand.

Now, your name is Maria, and I am in love with it. My only wish now is that I manage to give you that name legally. And, for your grandmother, she decided to call you "Mariam"!

I was planning to start the legal journey yesterday, but I was too tired and depressed. I will do that starting next week hopefully.

Love you Maria :)

A man of knowledge (The four natural enemies)

Sunday, April 15, 1962 As I was getting ready to leave, I decided to ask him once more about the enemies of a man of knowledge. I argued that I could not return for some time, and it would be a good idea to write down what he had to say and then think about it while I was away. He hesitated for a while, but then he began to talk. "When a man starts to learn, he is never clear about his objectives. His purpose is faulty; his intent is vague. He hopes for rewards that will never materialize, for he knows nothing of the hardships of learning. "He slowly begins to learn - bit by bit at first, then in big chunks. And his thoughts soon clash. What he learns is never what he pictured, or imagined, and so he begins to be afraid. Learning is never what one expects. Every step of learning is a new task, and the fear the man is experiencing begins to mount mercilessly, unyieldingly. His purpose becomes a battlefield. "And thus he has stumbled upon the first of his natural...

Angkor, Cambodia! 4. Latin America, didn't decide which countries yet, but for sure I have to drop by Peru to visit a friend there 5. Aswan 6. A trip along the Nile till I reach lake Victoria. I have to drop by each country of the nine, really feel it, breathe it, taste it! 7. Italy, this one will be a long trip, I believe I need to visit every single province there! 8. Bali, Indonesia 9. India...India...India (this one may need a month!) 10. China 11. Planet Japan (Maybe!) 12. Qatar, wanna see the place where I grew up once more :) 13. A trip to the gulf countries in general! 14. Living vs Waiting

Living: Living here is used as a generic word for “living the moment”. When someone is “living the moment” he feels alive, enjoying every moment, experiencing all the feelings and emotions he should in that special moment. He is totally present, feeling relaxed, and hopeful about his future. Waiting: As explained in Oxford dictionary; the action of staying where one is or delaying action until a particular time or event: ‘years of waiting’ On the contrary to “living the moment”, when someone is in a waiting state, he is probably wasting his time and emotions, not experiencing the feelings he should experience in his present moment. Not being there, not understanding. Worried and anxious about what to come that he doesn’t notice the beauty of his current moment. Waiting involves: intolerance, anxiety, anticipation. When someone is in a waiting state he starts to believe things have taken so long to happen. And this involves doubt that he is in charge of his own l...
"Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast."
